Danimer Scientific, a company focused on renewable and sustainable biopolymers announced plans to invest $700 million for expansion of its Bainbridge manufacturing operations. The company’s renewable and sustainable biopolymers are used in single-use and other plastic products.
The company aims to double the size of its current project to 114,000 mtpa of production capacity. To cater demand from wide customer base from additives, aqueous coatings, fibers, filaments, films, hot-melt adhesives, and injection-molded articles, the company is expanding its capacity.
The new plant was supposed to be built with a capacity of 57 thousand tons. However, due to high market demand, the company is planning 114 thousand tons of capacity. The capacity will be added in two phases with scheduled completion in 2023 and 2024.
