Maire Tecnimont S.p.A.’s subsidiary companies- Tecnimont S.p.A. and Tecnimont Private Ltd were awarded an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) contract for the development of a polypropylene plant in Barauni refining complex (Bihar), India.

Indian Oil Corporation plans to develop 200,000 tonnes per year and is scheduled for completion by 2023. Amidst strong demand for value-added products in the Indian manufacturing industry, the state-owned oil company is planning to increase its investments in petrochemicals.

Earlier, in April 2021, Technip Energies was awarded an EPCC contract for OHCU unit construction with 1 mtpa capacity and a Fuel Gas Treatment Unit at the Barauni refinery complex.
