Prime Polymer plans 200 thousand tons polypropylene plant in Ichihara, Japan- May 2021

Prime Polymer Co., Ltd, a joint venture between Mitsui Chemicals (65%) and Idemitsu Kosan (35%).

The company plans to start construction of its planned polypropylene plant in August 2021. The terminal is scheduled for commencement of operations in November 2024.

The planned PP plant will have a capacity of 200,000 tons of polypropylene and will primarily cater the demand from automotive sector customers that prefer lightweight materials.

Prime Polymer plans to produce high-performance PP materials and will use licensed technology from Mitsui Chemicals.

The project forms part of scrap-and-build restructuring program announced by Prime Polymer during May 2021.
