Uniper SE and the Port of Rotterdam Authority plan to realize a 100 MW green hydrogen plant at the Maasvlakte area in Rotterdam.

The company and the authority are conducting a feasibility study for a green hydrogen plant.

The plant will be built on the existing Uniper site and is likely to be operational in 2025. Further, the company has plans of upgrading the plant capacity to 500 MW.

According to the company, following the prequalification of the project for the EU IPCEI programme, the company will undertake the conceptual design and the technical dimensions of the planned project over the next few months.

The location of the project- Maasvlakte will enable the company to serve both domestic and German markets. Uniper is also evaluating options for importing, storing, and exporting green hydrogen at the location itself.
