Fractional Flow Reserve Market Size, Value, and Competitive Overview:
[180 Pages Research Report] The global Fractional Flow Reserve Market size was valued at USD 960 Million in 2023, and the market is projected to reach USD 1847.1 Million by the end of 2030, with growth at a CAGR of 9.8% during the forecast report 2023-2030.
Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) is a diagnostic tool used to evaluate the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD). It measures the pressure difference across a narrowed or blocked artery to determine the extent of blood flow restriction. FFR is typically performed during a cardiac catheterization procedure, where a thin, flexible tube (catheter) is inserted into an artery in the wrist or groin and advanced to the heart.
During the FFR procedure, a special wire with a pressure sensor on its tip is passed through the catheter and into the coronary artery. The wire is positioned at the site of the narrowed or blocked artery, and medication is given to increase blood flow through the artery. The pressure upstream and downstream of the narrowing is then measured, and the FFR value is calculated by dividing the distal pressure (downstream) by the proximal pressure.
An FFR value of 1.0 indicates that the blood flow is normal, while a value of less than 0.75 is considered to be a significant narrowing that may require intervention such as angioplasty or stenting. FFR-guided interventions have been shown to reduce the need for unnecessary revascularization procedures and improve patient outcomes. FFR is a safe and effective tool for assessing the severity of CAD, and it is increasingly used in clinical practice to guide treatment decisions.
Fractional Flow Reserve Market Dynamics
The market is segmented based on product type, technology, application, and end-user. Based on product type, the FFR market is segmented into consoles, single pressure sensors, and others. The console segment is expected to dominate the market due to the increasing adoption of FFR consoles in catheterization labs.
Based on technology, the FFR market is segmented into invasive and non-invasive. The invasive FFR segment dominated the market in 2020 and is expected to continue its dominance during the forecast period due to its higher accuracy compared to non-invasive FFR.
