Smithfield Foods, Inc. is an American food-processing company that produces hog and processes pork meat. Through a series of acquisitions starting in 1981, it has become the largest pork processor and hog producer in the world. 

The company produces and markets a wide variety of fresh meat and packaged meats products both domestically and internationally.  

Smithfield conducts its operations through five reportable segments: Fresh Pork, Packaged Meats, Hog Production, International, and Corporate. The Fresh Pork segment handles fresh pork operations in the US. The Packaged Meats segment consists of U.S. packaged meats operations. The Hog Production segment consists of U.S. hog production operations. The International segment is comprised mainly of meat processing and distribution operations in Poland, Romania, and the United Kingdom, interests in meat processing operations in Mexico, hog production operations located in Poland and Romania, interests in hog production operations in Mexico, and former investment in Campofrío Food Group (CFG). The Corporate segment provides management and administrative services to support other segments.
