H.B. Fuller Business Structure and Competitive Position
H.B. Fuller reports through three global business units: Hygiene, Health and Consumable Adhesives; Engineering Adhesives; and Building Adhesive Solutions. Hygiene, Health and Consumable Adhesives serves packaging, hygiene, medical and other recurring consumable applications. Engineering Adhesives addresses technically demanding markets including electronics, automotive, aerospace, durable assembly and renewable-energy systems. Building Adhesive Solutions concentrates construction-related bonding, sealant and specialty-material applications. These businesses differ in economics and customer relationships: consumable adhesives emphasize high-volume recurring demand and manufacturing efficiency, while Engineering Adhesives increasingly serves long-qualified applications where materials become embedded within customer designs. Building Adhesive Solutions combines formulation capability with contractor, distributor and infrastructure-market requirements.
Competitive positioning is supported by formulation depth, application engineering and the ability to customize materials around customer processes. Adhesive performance depends on substrate compatibility, bond strength, cure profile, temperature resistance, process speed and increasingly recyclability or material reduction. Aerospace and medical applications introduce additional qualification and regulatory barriers, while electronics and battery applications require thermal, electrical and reliability performance. H.B. Fuller states that its portfolio includes thousands of adhesive solutions across numerous chemistry platforms, supported by global technical centers and field specialists. The company's more defensible positions are those where adhesive selection influences product design or manufacturing performance sufficiently that switching requires technical validation rather than a straightforward purchasing decision.

Hygiene, Health and Consumable Adhesives
Hygiene, Health and Consumable Adhesives is H.B. Fuller's largest segment by revenue. It supplies adhesive technologies used in flexible and rigid packaging, disposable hygiene, tapes and labels, medical applications and other high-volume consumer-product manufacturing. These markets typically require consistent high-speed application, dependable adhesion across different substrates and compatibility with converting or assembly equipment. Medical Adhesive Technologies adds a markedly more specialized component through cyanoacrylate-based tissue adhesives and related medical products requiring regulatory approval and controlled manufacturing. The segment generated $1.552 billion of FY2025 revenue and $244.4 million of adjusted EBITDA, with a 15.7% adjusted EBITDA margin.
Engineering Adhesives
Engineering Adhesives supplies highly specified bonding, sealing and thermal-management materials across automotive, electronics, aerospace, durable goods, industrial assembly and renewable-energy applications. Automotive and battery manufacturers use adhesives to bond dissimilar materials, manage vibration and enable lighter assemblies, while electronics applications require controlled thermal, dielectric and mechanical properties. Aerospace solutions face particularly stringent quality and qualification requirements, giving approved formulations long commercial lifecycles once embedded in programs. H.B. Fuller also develops materials for solar, wind and energy-storage applications. FY2025 segment revenue reached $1.062 billion, up 5.2%, while adjusted EBITDA increased to $236.0 million, producing the company's highest segment margin at 22.2%.
Building Adhesive Solutions
Building Adhesive Solutions supplies adhesives, sealants and associated technologies for commercial and residential construction, roofing, insulation, flooring-related systems, woodworking and infrastructure applications. Products must interact with substrates including concrete, wood, insulation, membranes and other construction materials while meeting requirements around weather resistance, durability, movement and installation conditions. The business has also expanded beyond North America through acquisitions that provide regional manufacturing and access to infrastructure and construction markets. FY2025 revenue was $860.0 million, with adjusted EBITDA of $134.0 million and a 15.6% margin. The segment's differentiation comes from application-specific formulation, contractor and distributor knowledge and technical support for demanding building-envelope and industrial applications.
H.B. Fuller Global Manufacturing and Geographic Footprint
H.B. Fuller operates a manufacturing network of roughly 70 facilities across approximately 35 countries, complemented by around 38 technology centers. Customer coverage extends to approximately 150 countries, giving the company both regional production and a broader export and technical-service reach. North America remains an important corporate, technology and production base, with St. Paul serving as global headquarters and manufacturing spread across multiple U.S. locations. The region supports packaging, hygiene, engineering, construction, medical and aerospace applications.
Europe combines established industrial adhesive operations with an increasingly important medical-technology footprint. Ireland and Italy now support H.B. Fuller's Medical Adhesive Technologies platform, complementing U.S. capabilities. European facilities also serve automotive, packaging, industrial assembly and construction applications. Asia-Pacific manufacturing includes important operations in China, India and Southeast Asia. The Guangzhou, China technical center supports hygiene, packaging, medical, automotive, woodworking, industrial assembly and consumer-electronics development and includes dedicated synthesis and analytical capabilities.
The India, Middle East and Africa region has become another manufacturing focus. During 2025, H.B. Fuller opened a new facility in Cairo, Egypt, and expanded manufacturing in the United Arab Emirates. Regional manufacturing matters because adhesives are frequently tailored around customers' specific substrates, application equipment and production conditions. Local technical centers shorten qualification cycles, while distributed manufacturing reduces supply risk for materials consumed continuously on packaging, assembly and construction lines.
H.B. Fuller Mergers, Divestitures and Portfolio Transformation
H.B. Fuller's recent portfolio activity has concentrated on medical adhesives and higher-value engineered applications while exiting lower-priority businesses. On December 2, 2024, the company completed the acquisition of Ireland-based Medifill, and on January 15, 2025 it completed the acquisition of Italy-based GEM S.r.l. The combined purchase price was approximately €191.9 million. GEM brought internally used medical tissue adhesives and application devices, while Medifill added medical-grade cyanoacrylate technology for wound closure. Together, the businesses strengthened H.B. Fuller's European medical platform and complemented earlier acquisitions including Adhezion Biomedical and Tissue Seal.
The company simultaneously divested its North American Flooring business in December 2024 for approximately $80 million of expected proceeds. The business represented about $160 million of annual revenue and approximately $15 million of adjusted EBITDA, allowing management to redirect resources toward higher-growth, higher-margin categories. Manufacturing transformation is occurring in parallel under Project Quantum Leap. H.B. Fuller has outlined a multi-year program intended to reduce its manufacturing footprint from 82 facilities at the start of the program to approximately 55 by 2030 and streamline North American warehousing. A new aerospace Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Charlotte, North Carolina, scheduled to open in early 2027, is part of this concentration strategy.
The largest pending development is H.B. Fuller's recommended £715 million enterprise-value acquisition of Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc. Announced in June 2026, the transaction would add tissue-bonding adhesives, surgical tapes and dressings and biosurgical products and approximately $300 million of annual revenue. H.B. Fuller expects approximately $55 million of run-rate revenue and cost synergies. AMS shareholders approved the transaction on August 12, 2026; closing remains expected by year-end subject to remaining conditions and regulatory approvals.
