DuPont de Nemours, Inc. Company Overview

DuPont de Nemours, Inc., commonly known as DuPont, is a U.S.-headquartered advanced materials and technology company based in Wilmington, Delaware. The DuPont name traces its industrial heritage to 1802, while the current corporate structure emerged from the DowDuPont combination and subsequent separations beginning in 2019. Following the November 2025 spin-off of its electronics business and the April 2026 sale of Aramids, DuPont is now concentrated on healthcare, water, construction and specialized industrial materials. Its technologies include medical packaging, silicone and thermoplastic healthcare materials, medical-device components, reverse-osmosis and ultrafiltration membranes, ion-exchange resins, building-envelope materials, specialty lubricants, high-performance polymer components, films and adhesives.

DuPont's strategic positioning has become substantially more specialized following several years of portfolio separation. Healthcare & Water Technologies combines businesses with relatively high qualification requirements, recurring consumables exposure and strong operating margins. Diversified Industrials serves construction, aerospace, automotive, printing, packaging and general industrial markets through specialized materials and application technologies. The company's remaining portfolio relies more heavily on proprietary materials science, application engineering and customer specification than the broader conglomerate structure that existed before the separations.

DuPont de Nemours, Inc. Business Structure and Competitive Position

DuPont currently operates through Healthcare & Water Technologies and Diversified Industrials. Healthcare & Water Technologies combines medical-device and biopharma materials, medical packaging and Water Technologies. Its healthcare businesses include engineered components, specialty silicones and high-performance packaging materials, while Water Technologies supplies membranes, ion-exchange resins and purification systems for industrial, municipal and specialty applications. Diversified Industrials contains Building Technologies and Industrial Technologies. Building Technologies addresses insulation, air and moisture management and construction systems, while Industrial Technologies supplies specialized films, lubricants, sealing and friction-management materials, adhesives and other engineered solutions for aerospace, transportation, printing, packaging and industrial equipment.

DuPont's competitive position is based on materials science combined with qualification, application engineering and proprietary processing. Healthcare customers operate under stringent quality and regulatory requirements, particularly for medical packaging, pharmaceutical processing and medical-device components. Water customers require predictable membrane rejection, productivity, fouling resistance and resin performance across complex treatment systems. Industrial materials such as high-performance seals, films and lubricants can become embedded in equipment specifications because changing materials may require performance validation. Building technologies add formulation, weatherization and code-compliance expertise. DuPont's global Technical and Application Centers connect customers directly with scientists and engineers, with major innovation centers in Wilmington and Shanghai. The post-Qnity portfolio has a higher concentration of businesses where qualification and performance specification create meaningful barriers to substitution.

Healthcare & Water Technologies

Healthcare & Water Technologies generated $3.233 billion of FY2025 sales and $972 million of operating EBITDA, producing a 30.1% operating EBITDA margin. Healthcare Technologies includes Tyvek medical packaging, Liveo healthcare materials and medical-device manufacturing capabilities added through Spectrum Plastics and Donatelle Plastics. Applications span sterile medical packaging, biopharmaceutical processing, tubing, components and finished medical devices. Water Technologies supplies FilmTec reverse-osmosis membranes, ultrafiltration systems, ion-exchange resins and related purification technologies for municipal drinking water, industrial reuse, desalination, life sciences and specialized separation. Differentiation is reinforced by regulatory qualification, application engineering and long product-validation cycles.

Diversified Industrials

Diversified Industrials generated $3.616 billion of FY2025 sales and $800 million of operating EBITDA, equivalent to a 22.1% operating EBITDA margin. Building Technologies serves residential and non-residential construction with insulation and building-envelope systems designed around thermal performance, moisture management and durability. Industrial Technologies supplies specialized materials for aerospace, automotive, packaging, printing and industrial machinery, including high-performance films, elastomer components, lubricants and engineered adhesives. Products such as Kalrez high-performance parts, Vespel components, Molykote lubricants and Tedlar films address operating environments where temperature, chemical exposure, friction or long service life place greater demands on materials than conventional polymers. The segment's differentiation is therefore application- and qualification-intensive rather than scale-driven commodity chemistry.

DuPont Global Manufacturing and Geographic Footprint

DuPont maintains a global network of manufacturing sites, laboratories and Technical and Application Centers across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. The United States remains central to corporate leadership, materials research and manufacturing. Wilmington, Delaware houses the global headquarters and Experimental Station innovation campus, while Newark provides additional operations. Richmond, Virginia includes the Spruance site, a strategically important manufacturing location associated with high-performance materials, while Minnesota contains Water Solutions and medical-device capabilities.

The medical-device platform has expanded DuPont's manufacturing presence across the United States, Mexico and Costa Rica through Spectrum Plastics and Donatelle-related operations. The company's current location network includes facilities in Arizona, California, Georgia, Minnesota and Wisconsin, together with sites in Mexicali and Reynosa, Mexico and Heredia, Costa Rica.

Europe supports Water Technologies and industrial materials through locations including Tarragona, Spain, as well as facilities and technical centers in Germany and other major industrial markets. Asia-Pacific combines manufacturing and application expertise in China, Japan and other regional markets. Shanghai hosts a major DuPont R&D center, while Zhangjiagang and Qingpu are manufacturing locations in China; Chiba, Japan supports specialized industrial materials.

The network's value is primarily technical. Healthcare and aerospace products benefit from qualified regional supply, while water-treatment materials require local application support and industrial technologies often depend on co-development with OEMs and processors.

DuPont Mergers, Divestitures and Portfolio Transformation

DuPont's recent transformation has fundamentally changed the company's perimeter. On November 1, 2025, it completed the separation of its electronics business as Qnity Electronics, Inc., distributing approximately 209 million Qnity shares to DuPont shareholders. Qnity began trading independently on the NYSE under ticker Q, while DuPont retained ticker DD. The separation removed semiconductor and interconnect technologies from DuPont and left healthcare, water and diversified industrial materials as the core continuing portfolio.

The second major exit was Aramids, including Kevlar and Nomex. DuPont completed the sale to Arclin on April 1, 2026 at an approximately $1.8 billion transaction value. DuPont received roughly $1.2 billion in pre-tax cash, a $300 million note and an equity interest in Arclin valued at $325 million at closing.

Investment has simultaneously shifted toward healthcare and water. DuPont completed its acquisition of Donatelle Plastics in July 2024, expanding medical-device design and manufacturing capabilities alongside Spectrum Plastics. In September 2025, it agreed to acquire Sinochem's Ningbo reverse-osmosis membrane operation to establish FilmTec manufacturing in China and strengthen Asia-Pacific water-treatment capacity. The resulting company is materially more focused than pre-2025 DuPont: electronics and aramids have moved outside the consolidated portfolio while healthcare, water and specialized industrial materials receive a greater share of management attention and growth investment.
